    Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Businesswomen Council, organized a "Sports Investment" meeting attended by officials and investors in the sports sector. The meeting took place at the main headquarters of the Chamber.

    Council member Agareed bint Ehsan Abduljawad highlighted that the sports industry is a crucial contributor to increasing a country's revenues and is one of the most economically and socially beneficial tools. Therefore, in line with Vision 2030, the sports sector has been recognized as a key economic sector. Efforts have been made to promote sports activities and expand investment in this sector. Creating the necessary environment to support and introduce new options is essential to enhance the sports investment program, encouraging entrepreneurs and facility owners to invest in this promising sector.

    During the meeting held on the evening of Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Abduljawad explained that the Kingdom has witnessed a significant increase in sports investment recently, supported and prioritized by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince. This support is within the framework of Vision programs and goals. Various infrastructure projects have been initiated, positively impacting the development of a sports sector that stimulates investment. This strategic approach aims to position the Kingdom as a significant player in the regional and global sports economy.

    She noted that the sports sector, with the consecutive growth in various sectors of the national economy, is now rich in investment opportunities. There is a noticeable trend among businesses to invest in this sector, requiring encouragement, support, and broader knowledge of the diverse investment opportunities in this growing field.

    On his part, the General Investment Director at the Ministry of Sports, Engineer Mansour Al-Muqbil, pointed out that Saudi Vision 2030 has set ambitious targets for the sports sector in the Kingdom. This includes enhancing sports activities in society, achieving excellence in various sports regionally and internationally, as well as hosting numerous diverse global sports events. These efforts contribute to the growth and prosperity of the economy. Al-Muqbil explained that the Ministry of Sports is working on various initiatives to promote sports investment, build more partnerships between the public and private sectors, and provide special incentives for private sector investors. He emphasized that the Eastern Region is rich with favorable investment opportunities for sports investors, facilitated by optimal access to these opportunities.

    In addition, Abdulaziz Al-Shammary, the Director General of Compliance and Director General of Environmental Health at the Eastern Region Municipality, mentioned that the Eastern Region possesses significant potential for growth in sports activities. The region has a large number of youth interested in sports and a geographic location suitable for hosting various international sports tournaments. Al-Shammary highlighted that investing in sports activities contributes to achieving several goals, including promoting public health by playing a vital role in preventing chronic diseases, improving mood, and boosting self-confidence. Sports also aim to build the community by fostering collaboration and a sports spirit among individuals. Furthermore, sports contribute to economic development by attracting tourism and creating job opportunities.
